The Trust is holding an election to the Council of Governors with vacancies for Governors to represent the interests of the people residing in the following areas:
- Harrogate and surrounding villages
- Knaresborough and East District
- Ripon and West District
- The Rest of England, and
- Wetherby and Harewood including Otley and Yeadon, Adel and Wharfedale and Alwoodley Wards
Sandra Dodson, Chairman and Chair of the Council of Governors, said: “Our Governors are an integral part of the Trust and ensure that we are accountable to the local community we serve. The Council of Governors have key responsibilities such as the appointment of the Non-Executive Directors on the Board of Directors, the appointment of the Trust’s external auditor and development of an active membership. There are opportunities to work on specific projects and to represent the Trust locally and nationally too.
“At Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, we are extremely lucky to have an active and engaged Council of Governors, who lead the way on initiatives like our award winning Education Liaison programme. Now we are looking for people to join our Council of Governors and help to shape the Trust as we move forward.”

Nominations open on Thursday 20 October 2016 and the deadline for election nominations is Monday 7 November 2016.
If you are interested in finding out more about the role of a Governor, you are welcome to attend the following Governor Information Session:
Monday 24 October 2016 at 6-7pm in the Classroom, Strayside Education Centre, 3rd Floor, Harrogate District Hospital.
Members will have the opportunity to meet with the Chairman and current Governors and learn more about the role of a Governor and the election process at the information session.
